Founded in 2018 as the Canaan Valley Running Company with the first Canaan Valley Half Marathon, our races were built to showcase the beauty and adventure of West Virginia’s highlands. When the pandemic hit, we adapted and proved that people not only want to run—they want to experience Canaan Valley, Blackwater Falls, and Tucker County.

I’ve been part of this journey since day one — helping build and grow these events from the ground up — and in 2025, I proudly took over ownership to continue and expand our mission. Today, the Back Hollow Running Company remains dedicated to creating unforgettable race experiences that bring runners together, support local communities, and highlight the incredible landscapes we’re lucky to call home.
